In December 2020, the ADA released the first episodes of the organisation’s new oral health education podcast called Watch Your Mouth.
The podcast aims to provide an alternate form of oral health education to the Australian public that is easy to consume on-the-go such as during the daily commute. Although it is recommended that individuals see a dentist for their oral health advice, with only 48% of Australian adults attending for a dental check-up in the last 12 months, people are no-doubt sourcing their information elsewhere.
Watch Your Mouth – a revisit to the 2018 Dental Health Week campaign tagline, is available at both Apple Podcasts and Spotify. Episodes are released fortnightly and include a short Q&A between an interview host and dental professional.
The first series of episodes were based on infant/early childhood oral health, including topics such as oral health and pregnancy, infant oral health care and advice for visiting the dentist with an anxious child. Episodes will discuss a range of subjects providing advice on topics that the public both want and need to know.
